Kourtaliotiko Gorge is a natural theatre of stone and water. Steep cliffs rise on both sides; after rain, waterfalls thunder down – a awe-inspiring spectacle.

The gorge lies on the road between Rethymno and Plakias – a viewpoint halfway up offers the classic postcard view. Hikers can traverse the gorge; the route is demanding and needs good footwear.

Natural gateway to the south coast and Preveli beach. Combine with Preveli and Plakias for a perfect south-coast day.
